Born with a natural passion for visual arts, Shahan started his journey as a photographer. Growing up in Pakistan, where documentary filmmaking was at its peak, he found his distinct eye behind the camera. Soon enough his love for cinema led him to Los Angeles where he ended up collaborating with over 20 directors from around the world. Shahan was shortlisted as the emerging cinematographer of 2024 by the Academy of Motion Pictures. He has a distinct sense of visualising that supports the world that the directors have envisioned.
His recent work on the film “40 Days,” directed by Peter Takla is in post production. While Nebuchadnezzar, Straw and Generation Wells are doing a successful festival run around the world. Shahan will be collaborating with Tony Schwartz in 2025 on the project titled as “Ghost Machine.”
As a Director of Photography, Shahan’s work is characterized by evocative imagery. His projects, such as “Strong Black Women,” “Annabel Lee,” “Sealonn,” “Panthers Club,” “No Coffee No Cigarette,” “Peppermint,” “Soul free,” “Shade of Love,” and “The Choice,” exemplify his skill in capturing the essence of a story. Each shot conveys a unique visual language that adds depth and enhances the storytelling. Beyond his technical prowess, Shahan’s work is infused with his vibrant personality. He creates a comfortable and inspiring environment on set, allowing the creative team to thrive and bring their best work forward.
